ITFC’s Help with Procurement Opportunities & Assistance
We’ve probably heard or are familiar with the term procurement, which can be defined as the process of finding, engaging, agreeing, and acquiring goods, services, or work from an external source. Such a simple definition is misleading as there are often competitive bidding processes’ attached to national procurement opportunities; and even more so within the business development hurdles surrounding “procurement security” so to speak, which involves making buying decisions based on the scarcity of basic resources, materials, among many other issues.
This could be a very intimidating task for any individual that may not have the experience or training in this area. For instance, the procurement process is extremely critical to a First Nation when sourcing quality services at fair market prices, as well as understanding the entire Procurement Process, and how important it is to the success of an indigenous community and/or organization.
As well, if you are an indigenous service provider, It’s Time for Change’s (ITFC) procurement services also include searching for contracting opportunities, whether for capital or non-capital projects. However, there are so many opportunities that are currently being missed due to a lack of marketing and promotion to create sufficient awareness for everyone.
How can all of us effectively take advantage of these procurement opportunities? Whether from government services or financial institutions that offer these programming resources, how do they expect Canadians to know that these resources exist?
Indigenous communities and rural Canadians alike are responsible for building and maintaining their own infrastructure, offices, schools, houses, roads, and other capital assets. The task of securing procurement opportunities can be a daunting task, to say the least; some communities may not have the labor and/or financial resources, let alone the time to navigate through this process. This may result in lost opportunities on both ends of the procurement spectrum from acquiring quality services and providing quality services. The ITFC push alert notification capability ensures our members are aware, have the details match opportunity with your core service and product offerings!
There are millions of Canadian dollars being left on the table that many do not know about, both within the private and public spheres alike. With the ITFC platform members can walk through this standard practice to ensure your staff has the tools necessary to successfully navigate down this path, on your own, or with further assistance, ITFC is here to collaborate – not dictate!
ITFC provides everyone with access to a much broader audience when sourcing or acquiring goods or services. An effective Procurement Policy also enhances the local economy as it provides awareness of the potential opportunities for Indigenous peoples.
