Take a Real Step Toward Reconciliation with Local Indigenous Experts

ITFC connects organizations with Indigenous subject matter experts (SME) to foster reconciliation and mutual growth.

Limited Visibility

Reconciliation with Indigenous communities is a key priority in Canada, and the need for culturally informed guidance is critical for the success of reconciliation initiatives.

Engaging local experts ensures that reconciliation initiatives are culturally informed and impactful. However, a lack of professional networks and historical marginalization have limited the visibility of Indigenous experts. Because of this, organizations often struggle to engage Indigenous experts who can guide these efforts effectively. In many instances, they lack the resources or knowledge to connect with these experts, hindering effective reconciliation initiatives.

A Challenge for Organizations

For example, Sarah is a project manager for a non-profit organization aiming to launch a reconciliation initiative. Sarah finds it challenging to identify and engage Indigenous subject matter experts who can provide the necessary cultural insights and expertise. Her goals are well-intentioned, but because her organization lacks the resources to connect with local Indigenous experts, she doesn’t even know where to begin.

Let ITFC Be Your Guide

Organizations like Sarah’s can connect with local Indigenous subject matter experts simply by reaching out to ITFC via the contact form on the website or directly through their provided contact details. ITFC will engage in a consultation to discuss the organization’s specific needs and goals for reconciliation initiatives. Then, ITFC uses its extensive network to identify and connect the organization with suitable Indigenous experts who possess the required knowledge and experience. ITFC can then facilitate meetings and collaborations to ensure successful integration of Indigenous insights into the organization’s projects.

ITFC also provides services to help foster reconciliation and mutual growth, including:

  • Cultural Competency Training: Workshops and training sessions to educate organizations on Indigenous history, culture, and practices, promoting understanding and respect.
  • Advisory Services: Strategic guidance on creating inclusive policies and practices, ensuring that Indigenous perspectives are integrated into organizational strategies.
  • Community Engagement: Meaningful partnerships between organizations and Indigenous communities that encourage collaboration on projects that benefit both parties.
  • Resource Provision: Tools, resources, and frameworks to help organizations implement and sustain reconciliation initiatives.
